Whether you're single and out to mingle or married with children --- everybody needs to go out on a date. But that doensn't mean you have to break the bank. You can let the good times roll for little to no cash at all. And you can date during the day or night.
Go to a Culture Club Instead of a Night Club
Dating doesn't always have to be about going to the night club. Do something creative. Follow your passion. Whether it's art, music, theater or animal life. There's no doubt that your city is full of "culture clubs." Purchase a membership at a cultural and civic organization. Your membership will get you discounts on entrance prices and you can show off your cultural side to your date.
BOGO Dinner Dating
Let's face it. Everybody is feeling the financial crunch. But let that take a bit out of dating and dining. Clip that coupon for a buy-one-get-one-free dinner at your favorite restaurant. Take them up on that early bird special. Log on to their website and join the birthday club. Like them on FaceBook. Your eMail inbox will get flooded with ongoing coupons and discounts.
Want to make sure your date only has eyes for you? Plan a picnic. You won't have to compete for attention from all the other brothers and sister in a bar setting. Snare a classy picnic basket at a home décor store. Pick up a bottle of wine, some cheese and items at a deli --- or make the food yourself. Pick out a picnic site and send your date an eMail with a map on where to find you. Surprise them with your picnic pleasures and enjoy your one-on-one date.
You don't have to have a handicap like Tiger Woods to love golf. Make it fun and take your date to a putt-putt miniature golf course. Most putt-putt courses have daytime discounts and offer old school punch cards where the more you visit --- the more you save. Grab some burgers and fries to take a break before you attempt the most challenging hole --- getting the golf ball through the clown face!
Make a date to go to the latest art exhibit. Or show your animalistic side and go to the zoo or aquarium. Stroll through the botanical gardens. Visit your local black history museum. In most cases, your city and county civic centers have smartened up and come up with discounts and programs to drive you through their doors.
For example, at the High Musuem of Art in Atlanta, they hold a monthly jazz night. You get to hear world-class artists perform while you stroll through the museum's amazing collection of art. In the summer, the Atlanta Botanical Garden hosts evening strolls. The Fernbank museum screens I-Max and 3-D movies and you pass 20 foot dinosaurs on the way to your theater seats to view the movie.
