Why spend up to $5 for a 3-ounce bottle of pre-mixed spices at the grocery store. Make your own spice rub belands for steaks and do it for lots less! Plus you can even add your own "top spin" like more garlic or cayenne if you like your meat nice and spicey. Heck - when you're done, you can even name your spice rub blend after yourself, like "Tina's T-Bone Blend" or "Frank's Fantabulous Filet Rub." How about that!

Grilling and Stovetop Cooking Tips from Master Chefs!

  • Too cold outside to grill? No worries! Pull out your cast iron skillet, spray with cooking oil and make your steaks indoors on your stovetop!
  • Use your whisk to evenly blend spices.
  • Let your steaks stand at room temperature for 1 hour after rubbing (versus putting the steaks in the refrigerator) so that the herbs and spices seep deep before you grill them or cook them on the stovetop.
  • Save money by purchasing spices at dollar stores. And also check out spices commonly found in Latin and Caribbean grocery stores and sections in supermarkets, they’re usually cheaper than major grocery stores.
  • Combine fresh herbs with dried herbs for extra flavor!
  • Make up a big batch, put your blend in bottles, give your blend a name, and print labels on your computer to give as gifts!
